Potomac, MD newborn photography | Baby girl and “big” brother portraits

Welcoming a new baby into the world is one of the most joyful and special occasions in life.  It is also a bit of a whirlwind, and that new baby stage passes by in the blink of an eye.  But professional newborn photography can help families capture and preserve those fleeting first few weeks of babyhood.  With a fully-equipped studio in Potomac, MD, Tina Krafts Photography works with clients throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area to create custom newborn portraits that both document those precious baby details and reflect each family’s individual style.  The studio is stocked with a carefully curated collection of gorgeous, high-quality backdrops, blankets, wraps, outfits, and hats (including lots and lots of bear bonnets – a personal favorite!) in a full range of colors, so Tina Krafts Photography can match a family’s aesthetic whether they prefer neutral tones, or are fans of bolder colors or patterns.   Of course, we are always happy to incorporate items of special significance to clients into newborn sessions as well, to further personalize those newborn images.

If you would like to create custom newborn portraits that preserve your baby’s first weeks, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!  (It is never too early to reserve a space on my calendar for your newborn session!)

Although most of my newborn portrait sessions take place within the first 2.5 weeks after the baby is born, I have photographed many, many “older” newborns, including this sweet girl, who was just about 5 weeks old at the time of her session.   As you can see, she was still a petite little girl at 5 weeks! She slept through most of her session, but we also captured some adorable awake images as well.  (Her wakeful expressions were simply adorable, especially her sweet little smile in the third image below!)

We used a variety of different colors for her portraits, but her mom specifically requested that we use some pinks and incorporate some hearts into her session, to reflect the fact that she was born on Valentine’s Day. ❤  I am a total sucker for holiday-themed images, so you can imagine my excitement about this request!  (Be sure to scroll to the end to see some of the Valentine’s portraits.)

Potomac newborn photographer | beautiful December holiday baby portraits

Potomac newborn photographer – beautiful December holiday baby portraits

Hi friends! It has been a while,  but I’m finally getting a minute to update this blog with some of my more recent client sessions.  So please forgive me if I am sharing holiday baby portraits even if it *is* April!   (If you would like to see more of my recent work, check out my Instagram page: www.instagram.com/tinakraftsphotography or the portfolio tab here on my website!) I always have the best intentions of sharing my portrait sessions here, but I do prioritize actively photographing clients, editing galleries, processing orders, and responding to messages. If only there were 40 hours in a day! 🙂
But keep your eyes open for new posts coming your way – I have soooo much work to share!

The images below are some of my favorites from a special newborn session I photographed back in December.  This little sweetheart is just *stunning,* and I loved the colors that her parents requested for her session.  (The purple was made for her, in my opinion!)  I was also super excited that her mom and dad wanted to included some holiday-themed images in her session, as I always love styling holiday portraits.  And who doesn’t love a reindeer lovey, right?

Be sure to scroll through all of the images so you don’t miss this beauty’s sweet smile and perfect little piggies!

Washington Commanders baby portrait session | DC newborn photographer

Washington Commanders baby portrait session – Northern Virginia newborn photographer

It was such a treat to photograph this perfect baby girl and to work with her sweet family, who recently relocated to the area to join the Washington Commanders family.   Naturally, her parents wanted to incorporate some of her dad’s uniform/gear into her portrait session; I just love how perfectly she fits into her dad’s football helmet!
We also captured a number of more traditional portraits, incorporating a floral theme…I have shared some of my favorites below.
I am so very thrilled for this incredibly sweet family, and I wish them continued success and happiness in the DMV area!

          Welcome

Thanks so much for taking an interest in my work! Please connect with me via the "contact" tab above, or find me on Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest.

Maternity portrait sessions are so fun because they are filled with excitement, joy, and anticipation. There is something really special about photographing a glowing mom-to-be, regardless of whether she is awaiting her first or fifth baby.

I also know how busy (and often exhausting) that time before baby’s arrival can be, so I try to make maternity portraits as easy and stress-free as possible. With my client closet of beautiful dresses and professional hair and makeup artistry to make you look and feel your best, all you need to do is show up for your session; I will take care of everything else! Consider your maternity session some pre-baby pampering that will result in some beautiful images that you will treasure long after your little one arrives!

Newborns are only newborns for 2-3 weeks.
The newborn stage is fleeting in a way that almost feels impossible. Those early days blur together in a mix of sleepless nights, quiet snuggles, and tiny details that change far too quickly.
Although I can’t slow down that time, I *can* help you press pause on that whirlwind, and preserve the once-in-a-lifetime newness. With newborn images, we are able to capture not just how your baby looked in those early days, but how this special season felt…so even as it slips by, you can hold onto it forever.
