Baby milestone client closet for Tina Krafts Photography | Washington D.C. baby photographer

BABY MILESTONE CLIENT CLOSET

Did you know that, in addition to photographing newborns in their first few weeks of life, I additionally offer baby portrait sessions for babies of all ages, and that I also have a carefully curated baby milestone client closet that is available for my clients’ use?  On that note,  I have finally had an opportunity to photograph most of my baby milestone client closet, so if you would like to see all of the adorable offerings for your little ones, you can click here, or go to the “Details” tab on my website homepage.  Trust me,  you should go check it out – there are so many darling little outfits (because, honestly, I’m a bit *too* obsessed with buying cute baby clothes)!  These are just a few examples of some of the pieces I have procured from boutiques and vendors all over the world.

As you will see in the milestone wardrobe gallery, my collection includes both neutral tones and a plethora of colors, and I have an equal number of backdrops to match.  And, as my baby milestone portrait sessions are approximately an hour in length, clients are not limited to a single outfit or color choice for their portraits, allowing for a significant variety of images.  And, just as with my newborn portrait sessions, I customize baby portrait sessions to reflect my clients’ vision, preferences, and specific requests.  Thus, portraits can be as simple as your little one on a solid color backdrop, emphasizing purely baby, such as in these images.

Or sessions might include seasonal elements or themes that reflect baby’s or parents’ personal interests.  (See sample images below.) I also often incorporate props, blankets, or toys that are meaningful to my little clients or their families.  Regardless of whether a milestone session includes a simple backdrop or a more elaborate theme, or whether the session includes zero or 20 props and accessories,  however, my primary objective in a baby portrait session is to capture those newly developing and precious baby expressions and skills.  Babies grow and change SO fast in their first year of life. Their impossibly tiny fingers and toes get bigger, their hair grows, and their first tiny teeth make an appearance.

Photographing milestones allows us to create a visual record of your baby’s growth and development, while simultaneously capturing his or her unique personality. Milestone sessions document the essence of who your baby is at different stages— his or her quirky expressions, curious gazes, and joyful reactions, a representation of your child’s unique character and spirit.

Hatch Baby Recalls Sound Machine Power Adapter

Hi all!  As many of you who follow my blog have little ones at home (or are expecting little ones), I wanted to share this baby product safety recall with you.  More details are below, but the primary concern is a potential shock hazard from the power adapter if the plastic housing for the adapter comes off.  Hatch will replace your power adapter for free.

This little beauty was just over 2 weeks old when she came to see me for her newborn portraits (her incredibly sweet family drove almost an hour to have me take her newborn photos — I am so honored!).    As you will see from the images we captured, she was such a perfect little dream during her session; she gave us some of the most perfect expressions, including one of the cutest newborn smiles I have seen.  (I also adored her “what are you talking about, photographer lady” expression in the penultimate image I shared below.)
Because this sweetheart was born in the Spring, we decided to incorporate both some springlike pastel colors and some floral accents.  Which image is your favorite?

Newborn with big sister and parents | Washington DC newborn photographer

Although every one of my newborn sessions is special, nothing makes my heart sing more than when my newborn clients return to me to photograph their second, third, or fourth child!  I truly view it as such an honor, and I just *love* seeing “my babies” all grown up and embracing their new roles as big sisters and big brothers.  Now that I have been in business for 10 years, I have had the wonderfully good fortune of photographing so many repeat clients in the past several years, including the lovely family featured here!  As you can see from the images below, this beautiful big sister just adores her little brother, and is so incredibly sweet with him. (Be sure to scroll through the images to the end, where you can find a photo of big sister as a newborn.)

Another aspect that I loved about this session for my returning clients was that, at mom and dad’s request, we incorporated some elements that were similar to those we used in their daughter’s newborn session.  For example, we used a lot of neutral tones, and we included various star-themed images.  (This little guy’s nursery has a moon and stars theme so, naturally, I had to photograph him in a moon prop as well. :))  We even captured some photos of the two siblings in the same cozy angora outfit!

It was such a delight for me to see this sweet family again, and I wish their growing family every happiness!

Those first few weeks with a newborn baby are one of the most extraordinary and fleeting seasons of your life. In a matter of just a few weeks, tiny features begin to change, little toes and fingers uncurl, sleepy snuggles give way to longer periods of alertness, and the little one you longed to meet begins growing rapidly before your eyes.
This chapter passes so quickly that many of these precious details fade from memory. Newborn photography helps to preserve those memories, however…long after your baby has outgrown your arms, these images will bring you back to the awe, love, and joy at the beginning of your family’s story. ❤️

For the last decade, I have been almost exclusively photographing newborns and babies. Over the last year, however, I have reintroduced various types of portrait sessions, including children, family, and pet sessions.
Among these “new” portrait offerings is one that has quickly become one of my favorites: fine art children’s portraits. These portraits are thoughtfully crafted images that are designed to capture the beauty and emotion of childhood in a timeless way. These sessions importantly allow your kids the opportunity to dress up and feel special, encouraging confidence and allowing their unique personalities to shine. The ultimate result is heirloom-quality artwork for your home that preserves a season of your child’s life. 🤍

Did you know that I offer *both* posed *and* lifestyle (as well as hybrid) newborn portrait sessions at my Washington D.C. area studio?

Those first days with your new baby are filled with fleeting moments you'll never want to forget, and there are beautiful ways to preserve them through newborn photography. Lifestyle newborn sessions focus on capturing natural moments with your family in a relaxed environment, highlighting authentic connections, cuddles, and the beauty of everyday life with your new baby. Posed newborn sessions are more carefully styled, with your baby gently and safely guided into timeless poses that highlight every precious little detail, creating beautiful heirloom portraits you'll treasure for years to come. As a photographer experienced in both styles, I love offering families the freedom to choose the experience that feels most like them (or even the best of both worlds - a hybrid session!). Whether you envision heartfelt, documentary-style images or beautifully crafted portraits, my goal is to create photographs that not only document how your baby looked, but preserve your memories of this extraordinary season of your life.
