Spring newborn sessions are among my favorites, and my session with this gorgeous little girl was certainly no exception!  I love incorporating the cheery pastel colors of spring, as well as my clients’ favorite flowers or greens.   For this little sweetheart’s session, we incorporated a floral garland that hangs in her nursery, as well as some sunflowers, which were special to her parents because they had included sunflowers in their wedding celebration.  I love working with my clients to customize their newborn sessions to make them even more meaningful!
I have included some of my favorite images from this session below.  Can you even stand how adorable this little beauty is with her snuggle bunny (7th photo)?!

Happy New Year to all of my wonderful clients/friends and followers!  Now that the whirlwind of the holidays and the pre-holiday frenzy to complete all of my editing and orders has subsided, I am sneaking in some time to share some of my fall sessions before my 2019 babies arrive!
As soon as I saw this sweet baby girl, I was smitten! She is just beautiful, and has the most amazing hair!  (Although I really hated to cover it up, you’ll see below that she makes the absolute cutest reindeer and baby Santa!) She was also amazingly sleepy, so we captured a wide variety of images (the images below are just a portion of what we captured during her session), including a few star-themed shots for her similarly decorated nursery.  She did wake up for a few quick minutes after eating, however, and I was happy to get a shot of her bright eyes for her mom and dad. 🙂
I just adored her entire session, and loved getting to know her parents as well!  Congratulations to this lovely family of three!

I have had the great fortune of photographing some gorgeous, sleepy babies over the last few months, and this little beauty was no exception!  Doesn’t she have the sweetest little face?

These are a few of my favorite images from her session.

Baby boy with his parents; newborn with dad’s military uniform

It has been a crazy fall season over here at Tina Krafts Photography — I have had the privilege of photographing so many beautiful babies over the last few months (thank you so much to all of my fabulous clients for entrusting me with your newborn portraits)!  I have had so many sessions that I wanted to share with you all, but have been so busy editing away that I have neglected my blog.  As I start to wind down my editing from all of my fall sessions, however, I will start to share more of my sessions here.

I absolutely adored this little guy’s portrait session!  He was such a tiny, sweet thing, and may be one of the best sleepers I have ever photographed. . .we did so many different set-ups with him, and he slept through the entire session!  I loved that his parents requested some images incorporating fall tones and colors (my favorite!), as well the “baby bear” image below, as I relish the opportunity to be creative during sessions.

Speaking of this cutie’s parents, how gorgeous are they? I truly think that this family needs a modeling contract, stat! 🙂  They are equally sweet as well, and I just loved meeting them!  Wishing all the happiness in the world to the L family!

Washington D.C. Potomac Maryland newborn photographer wins Bronze Award | Professional Photographers of America 2018 International Photographic Competition

Washington D.C. newborn photographer earns bronze award for fine art newborn portrait

Washington D.C. Potomac MD Photographer Earns Bronze Award at International Photographic Competition

Tina Krafts of Tina Krafts Photography is honored by peers and jurors for high-quality photography.

Washington, D.C./Potomac, MD – Tina Krafts of Tina Krafts Photography in Silver Spring, Maryland was named a Bronze Medalist during Professional Photographers of America‘s 2018 International Photographic Competition. Krafts’ work will be on display at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 20-22, 2019. This International Photographic Exhibit is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers.

A panel of 32 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,073 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, 2,622 images were selected for the General Collection and 513 (roughly 10 percent) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated “Loan Collection” book and over 365 selected General Collection images will be published in the “Showcase” book by Marathon Press.

Tina Krafts was named a Bronze Medalist by earning a merit—a mark of quality and honor—for each of the four images included in her entry case to the International Photographic Competition. (Photographers are permitted to submit a total of four images in the annual International Photographic Competition.) This is the most prestigious competition of its kind, where images are judged based on a standard of artistic excellence, not against each other. In 2018, she was one of only 208 Bronze Medalists.

Those first few weeks with a newborn baby are one of the most extraordinary and fleeting seasons of your life. In a matter of just a few weeks, tiny features begin to change, little toes and fingers uncurl, sleepy snuggles give way to longer periods of alertness, and the little one you longed to meet begins growing rapidly before your eyes.
This chapter passes so quickly that many of these precious details fade from memory. Newborn photography helps to preserve those memories, however…long after your baby has outgrown your arms, these images will bring you back to the awe, love, and joy at the beginning of your family’s story. ❤️

For the last decade, I have been almost exclusively photographing newborns and babies. Over the last year, however, I have reintroduced various types of portrait sessions, including children, family, and pet sessions.
Among these “new” portrait offerings is one that has quickly become one of my favorites: fine art children’s portraits. These portraits are thoughtfully crafted images that are designed to capture the beauty and emotion of childhood in a timeless way. These sessions importantly allow your kids the opportunity to dress up and feel special, encouraging confidence and allowing their unique personalities to shine. The ultimate result is heirloom-quality artwork for your home that preserves a season of your child’s life. 🤍

Did you know that I offer *both* posed *and* lifestyle (as well as hybrid) newborn portrait sessions at my Washington D.C. area studio?

Those first days with your new baby are filled with fleeting moments you'll never want to forget, and there are beautiful ways to preserve them through newborn photography. Lifestyle newborn sessions focus on capturing natural moments with your family in a relaxed environment, highlighting authentic connections, cuddles, and the beauty of everyday life with your new baby. Posed newborn sessions are more carefully styled, with your baby gently and safely guided into timeless poses that highlight every precious little detail, creating beautiful heirloom portraits you'll treasure for years to come. As a photographer experienced in both styles, I love offering families the freedom to choose the experience that feels most like them (or even the best of both worlds - a hybrid session!). Whether you envision heartfelt, documentary-style images or beautifully crafted portraits, my goal is to create photographs that not only document how your baby looked, but preserve your memories of this extraordinary season of your life.
